Black Hair's new show opens the season at the brand new Axis Arts Centre in Crewe. Devised by the ensemble around music old and new, Rising is a 60 minute sequence of actions and musical events, incorporating music by Roger Marsh, Ed Jessen, Kerry Andrew and Juliana Hodkinson. Loosely connected by the notion of rising, the show moves between extremes of dark and light, intimacy and confrontation, with words and music both familiar and unfamiliar.

Black Hair appear at the Fuse Leeds Festival with the Cutting Edge programme: Aperghis, Jessen, Hodkinson and Damien Harron's 'Control Freak'. It's another cushion concert: bring your own or use ours!

Programme of music theatre pieces including Aperghis 'Le Corps en Corps' and Marsh 'A Little Snow'.  Also Ed Bennett 'Monster' for solo bass clarinet and tape, and haiku by Kerry Andrew and Giles Easterbrook.

Black Hair's programme for the Cutting Edge comprises a range of rich and diverse contemporary pieces; some are extremely delicate, almost secretive, while others are raucous and confrontational. Most of this programme was composed especially for Black Hair, often through close collaboration. The ensemble creates innovative and engaging performances, drawing out the innate theatre of musical expression and ensemble interaction, making subtle use of lighting, space, and sometimes movement. Black Hair has performed widely in the North, the South-West, and even in Europe, but this is their first London performance: one not to miss.'
